The Men of Hope tour has started. Right now we are on the ferry between Travemunde, Germany and Helsinki, Finland. So far we have had a very eventful time.
Michael Roberts arrived at the airport in Warszawa, Poland and we were happy to see him. From there we drove to Bielsko-Biala in the south part of Poland where we checked in at a hotel for the night. We were all tired upon check in and all a bit nervous about the following day and our visit at the death camp, Auschwitz.
We drove on small roads from Bielsko-Biala to Auschwitz and there we met up with Brother Michael Beyerlein who also is a former neo nazi. He had his wife and Brother Tomas from Zwickau with him and I thank God for them being with us during this totally different day. So much tears, so much tragedy. We did parts of the tour of the death camp and it was all filled with death. It was one of the most darkest places I ever visited in my entire life. The spirit of death was everywhere and I really wonder why people want to go and visit such a place.
What blew my mind away was all the stories about the people who were taken there. When they were taken to the gas chambers they were told they were going to the shower. Piles of shoes from victims, even piles of children's shoes and clothes. I mean, how mean can this world be? And this is something that we want to forget! To me it is just a big sign of how mean we are without the love of God and it is not like something that happened a long long time ago, it happened during my parents life time!
To Michael it was very emotional and he broke down after a while. He said he needed to do this and his tears were real. Tears of repentance and of sorrow that he used to be one of those who supported that ideology. Praise God, Jesus found him and saved him six years ago. I do not know what I had done there without Brother Michael Beyerlein, he was such a great support. After we were done we had dinner together and we continued our trip.
We decided to change our route and we skipped Bratislava. Instead we drove to a town in the Czech republic where we stayed over night. The next day we drove to St. Pölten, Austria where we got a chance to relax and also view some of the beauty of Austria, the next day was time for our first meeting as the men of hope.
Of course I got a toot ache when it was time for the first meeting in Salzburg so I stayed in our room all the time before and after the meeting. It is crazy how one bad tooth can mess up your entire head.
The meeting was awesome, I shared my life story and sang some songs and Michael Roberts spoke for the first time ever outside North America. Today he is an international speaker and his life story touched everyone who was there that night. People were crying and lives were being changed. It is not only the unsaved peoples lives that need to change. As I wrote last time it is time for the church to wake up and we really do need to get out there with the good news about salvation and eternal life, in other words we need to go out and preach JESUS to all the people and that is what Jesus, Himself told us to do,
From Salzburg we drove through beautiful landscapes and alps to Nurnberg, Germany where we met up with some of the German Ambassadors and the Ride On Brothers. We have a wonderful time of fellowship and a good meal together and they took such good care of us. They had booked us at a nice hotel and we could relax until 2PM yesterday.
Yesterday we left Nurnberg around 2:30 and we started our 700 km journey to Travemunde. We had a great and fun day. We even got stopped by the police as people had called in and said we drove too fast. I still wonder how you can drive too fast on a road without speed limits? They said our car was too low but what they did not realize is that our car is a low rider. We had to follow the police to the station where they took the weight of the rear axel and we were fine to go. We even got to take our pictures with the police and this made Michael very happy. We gave our cd:s and dvd:s to the police and left with a smile.
We arrived at the harbor and drove on board around 1AM last night. Today we have been drinking coffee on board and had some rest. Saturday morning, May 17th we arrive in Helsinki at 8AM and the same night we have our first meeting in Finland in Nedervetil.
God Bless!
Love You All!
