After a life marked by international touring as well as personal struggle, Pontus is now set to release his twentieth studio album, “Gospel Express”, on March 27, 2026.

From a young age, Pontus was already on the road. Over the years, he has performed with members of bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whitesnake, Status Quo, Frankie Miller Band, and Molly Hatchet. However, in February 2007, his life took a dramatic turn. Following a period of alcohol and drug abuse, he was hospitalized with little hope of survival.

It was there, according to Pontus, that he experienced a life-changing spiritual awakening. He describes it as a miracle — not only surviving, but also being set free from addiction. At the same time, he felt a clear calling: to share his story and spread a message of hope and faith.

Soon after his recovery, Pontus began visiting schools and churches with an acoustic guitar and the song “It’s a Miracle” in his repertoire. Since then, he has continued to combine music with his personal testimony throughout Europe.

“The past 19 years have been the best years of my life. I have found purpose,” says Pontus.

His debut album, “Ride to Freedom,” was released in 2009. Now, 17 years later, he presents his 20th album. The title track, “Gospel Express,” is inspired by his tour bus of the same name, which has carried him across Europe as he shares his life story.

The new album features 13 newly written songs and offers a blend of classic rock and powerful rock ballads with soaring distorted guitar solos. The lyrics are personal and honest. Rather than portraying a life of constant triumph, Pontus openly addresses struggle, weakness, and past mistakes — with a clear message of hope, grace, and restoration.

“If it were about my own deeds, it would have been over long ago. But God forgives when we ask for forgiveness and carries us through life’s darkest moments, even when we cannot feel it,” Pontus says.

The album features contributions from Janne Hyöty, Lelle “Bingo” Törnqvist, Mikko Rintanen, and Elna Romberg.

With “Gospel Express,” Pontus continues his musical journey — firmly focused on the live stage.

“It just keeps getting better. I’m beginning to truly find myself in the music, and I’m incredibly grateful to work with such outstanding musicians. I look forward to performing these songs live and sharing a message of hope,” Pontus concludes.

Biography

Pontus, toured with members of bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Whitesnake and Status Quo to name a few. His life came to an end because of too much of those tasty things too many people try heal themselves with. It nearly became his death, a too early death. He got an encounter on his deathbed and was miraculously healed. Since then he has released several solo albums with a message and this year (2025) he is releasing two albums ”Still Thankful” and ”Faith you have, believe you do". This single is not from any. of those albums. This is a song that was on Pontus heart to release after looking at what is going on in the world today. All we need is love. The single "All we need is love" was released March 21st 2025.

The ballads album "Still Thankful" also released in Swedish as "Tacksam" In April it is time for a brand new Rock and Rollabilly album, "Faith you have, believe you do" with twelwe new originals with Johnny Hatton (Brian Setzer, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Liza Minellu, Tony Bennet, Elvis Preslely...) on bass. Behind the drums is Rodger Carter (Lita Ford, John5, Rick Springfield, Glen Campell, Gene Simmons, The Temptations...). On keyboards is Pontus long time friend Mikko Rintanen (Royals, Wigwam, Kirka...) and of course Janne Hyöty is doing some guitars as well. Probably the best album ever, by Pontus! The single "Jesus loves rock and roll" was released April 11th and the full album released April 25th 2025.

Pontus has continued to work in the studio writing new music and the message is important for him. He wants people to know that to be a believer does not mean you are perfect. Many songs of the new album "Gospel Express", named after his tourbus carries that message and it is a mixture of rock and rock ballads. The album is scheduled to be released on Talking Music March 27th 2026 right before a two month tour of The Netherlands and Germany.
