Not christian entertainment

Greetings from Gothenburg, Sweden! Me and Sebastian left home at 3AM, Monday morning and took the ferry to Stockholm, Sweden. We started our journey and stayed one night in Linköping before we came here to Gothenburg where we are blessed to stay together with Brother Jukka Mäkikangas and his wife Maire. They are wonderful people.

This week we have been following several ministries and many christians do outreach and work for the Kingdom of God during a big conference in Kungälv, outside Gothenburg. We have been working together with Mission Göteborg (Mission Gothenburg) where Jukka is the leader. They work with the outcast in the society and Jukka has over 20 years of experience of working with homeless, drug addicts and alcoholics. Together with his experience and the love of God that flows through his entire being I can not say that there is a better combination for this work. I admire this brother and the work he does as a stretched arm to those who really are in need.

We have also been at the Camping for broken people (De brustnas camping). It is a camping organized very close to the conference with tents for people who want to come and stay for five days. It is like a oasis in the middle of the town with a big green field and wonderful trees. People from all over Sweden have visited the camping and most of them broken for some reason. Another wonderful way to show the love of God to those who really are in need. They even had free foot care, free health care and free dental care for the people and that I call doing God's Kingdom business. Jesus did not charge us anything for what He did and He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Friday and Saturday night I have been so blessed as we played two concerts with The Betels outside Mac Donalds in Kungälv. This time it was me as the only guitarist, Zet Tonmyr on keyboards, Jukka Mäkikangas on drums and Per Karlsson on bass. These brothers know my songs better than I do and I had one of the best times in a long time on the stage. The band was tight and the playing was filled with joy. People gathered in front of the stage, both christians and non christians and between the songs I got to share my testimony and tell the people about Jesus. Both nights I also felt led to talk about not listening to those who judge. There has been so much finger pointing and judging from us christians lately and sometimes I feel ashamed to be a christian. I am NOT ashamed of the Gospel or of Jesus but ashamed that some of us are acting in a way that scares people away from God. Where in the Bible did Jesus tell us to protest against homosexuality? Where in the Bible does it say that homosexuality is a bigger sin than for example being greedy, a thief or a liar? I can't find such scripture.

The only thing that will remain one day is His word and His love. His love is the greatest things of them all and it is the love of God that changes peoples lives. It was the love of God through the people in Kvevlax Missonskyrka I for the first time experienced the love of God. It changed my life forever. Also we are called to love one another and I don't buy it when people say they do it in "love" when they protest against something like homosexuality. Jesus took ALL our sins away 2000 years ago and by faith we are saved. We need to activate the love that God loved us with first and use it. I think the problem in many cases is that we don't allow God to love us as if we don't do that we can not receive the love of God in our lives and we can not give away something we do not have. Love one another folks and be patient with the sinners. It is a walk to walk but The Holy Spirit will reveal our sins to us in our hearts. Nobody wants to be hit in the head with the Bible.

During the two days I have been playing with The Betels I have received a big revelation. I am not a worship musician, I am a rock musician. My calling is not to entertain the christian audience. I am happy if they buy my music because the like it, but my heart is somewhere else. I pray and wish that I in the future can do more music that would attract those who don't believe yet, those who are lost. That is my calling, to reach the lost and God has given me a gift in music to use for His Kingdom.

I have been writing new music for the last two years now and a while ago I realized that I have material for my third album. I am scheduled to enter the studio in October this year to start working on my third album and this time I will limit all kind of christian terms and language that might upset those on the outside. I am working with lyrics right now and many of the songs are going to be testimonies and stories about people I met during my journeys. What I want to give away with my music is love, hope and faith and I do not want to be a christian entertainer who entertain the christians. I want to be a christian who goes out and plays songs that can reach the lost, songs that can bring them closer to God and songs that will plant seeds in their lives and open up their hearts. I feel so excited about this and now I know that God is in the boat as we really rocked Kungälv this weekend. I pray and hope for more opportunities to play with a full band outside the four walls of the church. I LOVE IT!

The coming week we are going to play at the LP camp (LP is a work for broken people all over Sweden) in Gullbranna. We are also going to do some interviews for our TV programs and I am looking forward to be together with 600 other people coming to fellowship. Many of the christians but many of them still on their way to the cross.

The last week in Sweden we are playing with The Betels again in Säffle, Wednesday August 6th. On Friday August 8th I will minister at the local Baptist Church in Karlskoga and the last meeting this trip is at the Motor Rock 2014 in Västerås, Sweden. Most likely I will have a full band with me there as well. It is going to be exciting days and I am already excited. What we do we do for Jesus as He died for us and we live for Him.
