Wildlife and big boats

12 November 2009
Yesterday we left Miami Beach around noon when it started to rain. The good thing with Florida is that when it looks dark on the sky the weather can change in just a minute. We got some sunshine later on and we were both happy to be on our way from Miami. Big cities and big cities and I guess I AM a redneck as I love the smaller towns and the country.

Probably I shouldn´t have said that as we wanted to eat something before we hit the road and we were looking for a Subway. We used our gps navigator to find a place and we went to a town west from Ft. Lauderdale called Weston. Our gps told us that the destination, our Subway was i the middle of a big crossing and even if we drove around and looked we could not find anything, just a couple of fancy steakhouses that were way out of our budget. We decided to hit I75 west and I said to Sebastian that we´ll find something on the way. What I didn´t know was that Weston was the last town for the rest of our trip this wonderful day.

Anyway we found a small gas station in Miccosukee wich is some kind of a Indian place. It was that type of country side, "middle of nowhere" experience. Anyway we got gasoline and two pizza slices that probably had laid ther too long but the best of all; we got to see an alligator.

We continued our journey towards Naples and it was so nice to just drive down the road in the middle of nowhere. Of course it was nice to see Miami Beach but as I said too big for my taste and all in big cities are about money and glory. I think we saw the coolest boat we ever seen on our way from Miami but I prefer to see what GOD have created and the road from Weston to Naples was just cool. We drove thru Everglades Wildlife Management Area, Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. If the weather had been better I think we would have gone on some kind of safari but as we didn´t know when it was going to rain we decided to just check out the wilderness from the car window. Everywhere we stopped we saw and heard many kind of different birds. Imagine how many different animals, trees and other stuff God have created. We serve a cool and awesome God.

Finally in Naples we checked in at our "next to the highway" motel and took it easy. Later on we checked out Naples and it is a nice little town where I could live. Nice and friendly people and it is by the water. There is something with the water that I need to have. I have always been like that but I just love the sea.

I still think that the funniest experience this day was when we tried to get a cheap meal at Mc Donalds. We used the "american style" and the drive thru and we had to drive three times around the Mc Donalds and speak to the "box" before they got our order right. No pickles, no ketchup... NO PICKLES! I did not know my english was that bad :)

Today is a new day and it is time to wake up my son for a new day on the road as father and son. We are Ambassadors For Jesus Christ, even if we have one more day off before our next meeting in Auburndale, Florida.

Have a blessed day and night!
